WXW 16 Carat Gold 2019: German Wrestling has never been this good! (All Tournament Days and Results)

I have just arrived home from Day No. 3 of the 16 Carat Gold weekend and decided to write this right away. Wrestling is incredible. WXW is awesome. But WXW 16 Carat Gold 2019 was an expierence like none other. Excluding the Inner Circle Event on Thursday and the OberhausenOpen Bowling Event, i have attended all WXW Events during the Carat-Weekend. I encourage everyone to share their thoughts on the event(s) via Twitter with the #WXW16Carat so we share moments that will last forever.

16 Karat Gold Day 1:

Podcast Marathon:

WXW tried something new: HEADLOCK, Blown Up, ProWres Paradise, Indy Corner, BritWresRoundtable, Voices of Wrestling and Botchamania all got together to chat about wrestling.
This event felt nice, being held at the 'Haus Union' Hotel in Oberhausen. But more and more people left to get to the Turbinenhalle, where the tournament shows where held. Also probably all of us were either tired from work or traveling to Oberhausen. I wouldn't say the concept did not work, but maybe the overall presentation needs work, while the guests did there best to raddle us up, it missed a bang. So next time, just hire some brits to do chants in the background. I'm just kidding. More audience interaction is probably key.

Warm Up:
The Warm-Up featured the epic 're-match' between Strigger from Cagematch and Maffew from Botchamania. In 2018 Maffew 'botched' the Warm-Up Quiz, in 2019 he was able to beat his foe in a ring-the-bell-match, in which the contestant has to find the ring-bell whilest being blind-folded.

Veit Müller def. Julian Pace, Kyle Fletcher and Leon Van Gasteren to become the (Optional) Alternate for the 16 Karat Gold Tournament

This was probably the best warm-up match i've seen ever. The mix out of styles and motivation all four went into this was incredible. Veit and Julian are the next big things in WXW.

Main Show:

The 16 Carat Gold Competitors

1. Axel Dieter Jr. def. Marius Al-Ani to advance to the quarter finals
2. Fenix def. Rey Horus
to advance to the quarter finals.

5. Avalanche def. Jurn Simmons

6. Pentagon Jr. def. Mark Davis
to advance to the quarter finals.
7. Ilja Dragunov def. Daisuke Sekimoto
to advance to the quarter finals.
8. WALTER def. David Starr
to advance to the quarter finals.  (WALTER TAPPED!!!......)

Already starting on a high-level, the match quality encreased from match to match, apart from the Falls Count Anywhere match, which had two wrestler i really love in there, but a weird backstage fight kinda ruined the momentum the match had. The crowd was shocked when Lucky Kid eliminated Timothy Thatcher in the first round, but atleast we got to hear the absolute masterpiece that is Thatcher's new theme song. Dragunov vs. Sekimoto was the stiffest thing ever. An absolute shocker was WALTER once again defeating David Starr, a fact that made the crowd on WALTER.

Thatcher's new theme:

This was pure wrestling baby! Last year the matches were a lot shorter, but longer matches do not hurt this concept at all. Rico Bushido shockling advancing to the finals was but man, he was so damn good. Deservingly though, Irie took home the cup. Irie was one of the wildcards of the entire weekend and is probably one of the most improved wrestlers in WXW. I want more Irie and i want it now...BEASTMODE!

GUNNS! BOBBY GUNNS!

Night 2, although all nights were awesome, was absolutely awesome. Starr came out and pointed out, that WALTER tapped!!! Wolfe returned, Lucky beat the 2nd member of Ringkampf and Bobby Gunns brought the gold home. Also Schadenfreude formed after winning the Tag Team Titles. This show had it all. Must-See! Absolutley epic. Gunns was able to smash the wall of fog that was Absolute Andy.

After-Show Party:

The masses celebrate their new champion

You should never miss a WXW party. They always deliver, but i do apologize for my awful singing voice ;)
Also thanks again that Absolute Andy's old theme song is back in my head after wrestlers and fans alike did a conga like. ANDY!

A huge Tag Team Main Event between Pace & Van Gasteren and Sitoci and Al-Ani headline the Fan Expo Show
The Fan Expo was fun as always. A kids training, the Bowling Cup honors and some interview with guests like Felix Kohlenberg and Karsten Beck made filled the in-ring arena with live before tapings for Road to New York City brought the hard action.

5. Hot & Spicy def. Jay-FK
6. Schadenfreude def. Lucha Bros. & Rey Horus

 7. LUCKY KID DEFEATED WALTER TO WIN THE
2019 16 CARAT GOLD TOURNAMENT

Lucky Kid beat WALTER to win 16 Karat Gold

The induction of Veit Müller into Ringkampf was a longtime coming. This man earned this so much, but i did not have any time to get emotional on that as the story around Thatcher and Ringkampf was displayed again and the epic Womens Title Match and the Hot & Spicy return and Dragunov bringing Kid to the limit and and and...you can see where this is going. Unfortunatley due to a storm some fans had to leave early, but the 16 Karat Gold main event was still seen by many many faces, all in awe to what they were witnessing. Lucky Kid, once a little boy from Berlin, Germany, toppled the big mean WALTER and celebrated with RISE when the show closed. The right winner and the birth of one of the new big stars in wrestling. LUCKY KID!

Me with the returning Alexander Wolfe

Me with new Ringkampf member Veit Müller

Me with 16 Karat Gold Winner Lucky Kid

For the moment of the night was Alexander Wolfe's return. Lucky Kid beating all three members of Ringkampf in the tournament was clearly something so incredible, it needs to be pointed out aswell. 16 Carat Gold went out to pull of the insane and entertain over 3,000 fans over the course of three days, a feed they never reached before but excelled at while booking an event for all of us.
WXW is a company full of passion and will-power to do thing that seem absolutley crazy, especially for the german wrestling scene and it turned out amazing. Well deserved, if you ask me. Absolutley great. I can not wait to attend my next WXW event.
All WXW events will be streaming soon on wxwnow.com.
