Who is.....Shinsuke Nakamura?

He probably is one of WWE's biggest signings ever. The man from Kyoto, Japan is an exceptional athlete. People like him come around only every ten, maybe twenty years or even longer. He is a master of the art of make-believe and an outstanding in-ring-talent. No wonder he is currently challenging for the biggest companies' top prize. Let us take a very special look on the man they once called the 'Supernova' and why his life's work will effect generations to come.

The Origin

Already bound to make it in this business Shinsuke Nakamura was named 'Child of God', not only the undebatable truth, this was a reference to a man many call the greatest japanese wrestler of all time: Antonio Inoki, founder of New Japan Pro Wrestling, a company Nakamura would eventually end up in. The Japanese saw something in him and pushed him very early, something very unusual for the japanese market. Just one year in and he won the companies biggest price, the IWGP Heavyweight Title, he became the youngest champion to ever hold the title. He was so driven he even tried out MMA to get better, but unfortuntley suffered an injury which cost him the IWGP Title, because he was unable to defend the championship. Despite that even WWE became interested and made an offer to switch talents with NJPW, an offer NJPW refused. However Brock Lesnar ended up in the Main Event of the Tokyo Dome show, NJPW biggest show of the year, facing Shinsuke Nakamura in the process.
Shinsuke Nakamura never denied any competition and he is still driven to this day to get better, so he took on the journey of a lifetime.

The Journey to Perfection

Shinsuke Nakamura was sent out to get even better, so he went to the United States of America to learn more about their style of wrestling, something he would benefit from later in his career. His excursion led him back to NJPW even stronger and even more well-rounded and now with the power of the english language. He was able to learn from the very best at the time as he fought Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kurt Angle, he even appeared on TNA for this match.
He later joined the stable called CHAOS and perfected his craft as a heel. It was at this time Shinsuke Nakamura again evolved into something greater. He introduced STRONG STYLE to his move-set, a way more harder in-ring-style which suited his character even more. His new finisher, the "Boma Ye" was so vicious, it injured a number of wrestler, including Tanahashi.
Driven by his new-gained force he once again became IWGP Heavyweight Champion and forced Antonio Inoki to bring back the old big gold IWGP Title Belt, that way he would even more look like a champion.

The Sun Sets on Nakamura

A heavy shoulder injury caused Nakamura to be out of action in 2010. In 2011 NJPW introduced the NJPW Intercontinental Title. Shinsuke Nakamura saw this as a new challenge and went all out to become Champion, he would eventually hold the title for five times, no one comes even close. But little would Shinsuke Nakamura now, that soon his greatest foe would emerge out of the dark, to take him down for good: AJ Styles. The leader of his rival-stable, the Bullet Club, challenged Shinsuke Nakamura for a match of epic proportions. One epic bout later and Shinsuke was able defeat Styles, both wounded from their magic encounter at WrestleKingdom, vanished away from New Japan Pro Wrestling. Without his beloved Intercontinental Title and without his beloved friends at CHAOS.

The Rising Sun of The Artist Known as Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura is a very smart man. He made this sacrifice, because he had done it all in his home-country, but despite having all the tools he never tried his best in the company who claims to have the best in the world, waiting to be tested. So Shinsuke Nakamura, under the watchful eyes of Vince McMahon, Triple H, William Regal and millions of fans around the world signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). In Orlando, Florida Shinsuke Nakamura found a new home in NXT and the Performance Center. And Florida was also a great place for his second passion next to wrestling: surfing. A man that control the waves, can also ride the rollercoaster that is the WWE. With all the power in him, Shinsuke Nakamura arrived at NXT Takeover and his first opponent was the multi-talented Sami Zayn. Both wrestled one of the greatest matches of all time that night, a match that still makes hearts skip a beat, a match that kicked off the next chapter not only on Shinsuke Nakamura's career, but in NXT. For the months to come Shinsuke Nakamura only had one goal: Becoming NXT Champion. In one of the longest feuds in the history of the brand Shinsuke Nakamura fought valiantly to beat the imposing opposition of Samoa Joe. The two traded the title back and forth, not even a steel cage could contain their power. Shinsuke Nakamura opened eyes and soon, very soon, he was called up to WWE's Main Roster to be one of the corner stones of their SmackDown Brand. In his feuds with the likes of Dolph Ziggler and Jinder Mahal he was not able to shine like he used to. A fact that began to eat Shinsuke Nakamura alive. Something had to change. Did the man that they called 'The Rockstar of WWE' finally meet his match? What was holding him back? Was it himself? Was it the language? Was it the bright lights? No! It was one man: His familiar foe: AJ Styles. The man on top of SmackDown, the man on top of WWE. His arch-rival also went to the WWE and while Shinsuke was on NXT, Styles made waves on RAW and later SmackDown, becoming a two-time WWE Champion. Shinsuke knew he needed to face AJ Styles to make a name for himself once again. There was no other way. It had to be him. So Shinsuke Nakamura went out and defeated 29 other man in the Men's Royal Rumble Match of 2018. At WrestleMania Shinsuke Nakamura challenged AJ Styles for the WWE Championship and for the goal of the greatest match in WWE history.
On WrestleMania Day, the pressure however, took it's toll on Shinsuke Nakamura and he lost to AJ Styles for the first time in his life, in a lackluster match. That moment something cracked inside of Shinsuke Nakamura. His pride was hurt, his goal shattered. But he wasn't going to go back to the end of the line. He is the Child of God! So Shinsuke Nakamura went low on AJ Styles after the match and made it clear for everyone: He wants the WWE Championship, by any means necessary.

The following months Nakamura and Styles clashed, and clashed, and clashed. But the outcome stayed the same: AJ Styles remained Champion. At Money in the Bank the two collide one final time in a Last Man Standing Match, an opportunity for Shinsuke Nakamura to keep Styles grounded for good. He won't stop, there is nothing he won't do to outshine AJ Styles and to show everyone...

A Master of the Game, that is what he is. God's Gift to Wrestling.
