The Top 5 Greatest WWE Rivalries of the last 10 years

Just recently i was involved in a conversation of the greatest rivalries in WWE and although the WWE Main Roster is not investing much in storylines anymore, the last ten years still had atleast five great wars that took us on the edge of our seats and some of them even do it today. It is time for CatchChat to highlight these great rivalries, that not only created great matches, but also moments that may last forever.

Honorable Mention: AJ Lee vs. Kaitlyn
Probably one the best Women's storylines in recent memory, but not in the list because Divas Matches, at the time, did not get enough time to fully grow into something special, real-life best-friends AJ and Kaitlyn however, put everything they had into this feud and created a beautiful on-off war between the NXT Season 3 competitors that lasted for over a year.

5. Kane vs. The Undertaker (2010)

The revival of a classic WWE storyline from 1997: Kane vs. Underaker, The Devil's Favorite Demon vs. The Phenom. At the time many thought this would be Undertaker's retirement storyline, as WWE brought back all the classic for this war: Caskets, Buried Alive Matches, even the father of destruction: Paul Bearer. Everyone that is a fan oth the Brothers of Destruction must have had a blast and so did i. Kane got a well-deserved World Heavyweight Title Run out of it and every week you wondering 'who attacked the Undertaker' as Kane was in search of the attacker. At SummerSlam 2010 it turned out it was Kane himself and so The Undertaker returned to take on Kane one more time. After their stint at SummerSlam, Kane wrestled the Undertaker again at Hell in a Cell and at Bragging Rights, where he put the feud to rest when he buried The Undertaker alive.

4. John Cena vs. CM Punk (2011-2012)

Company Man vs. Revolutionary. CM Punk changed the entire business and the made history on that faithful night a few weeks before the Money in the Bank promo in 2011 when he dropped the now infamous 'pipebomb'. Not only was he speaking out about what many fans and people in the lockerroom where feeling, he made people stay, made people watch WWE again or continue to watch, because from WrestleMania 27 on, the company was on the downward spiral and show became incredibly stale and boring. And in came CM Punk and changed this place forever. John Cena became the villian in this story, all while he still played the good guy, but he personified everything that was wrong with WWE, in the eyes of many, at the time. The now iconic WWE Championship match at Money in the Bank and the return of CM Punk for another match at SummerSlam and Punk's heel turn at RAW1000 in 2012 while holding the title for over 434 days, the promo duels between Cena and Punk and the involvement of Vince McMahon, Triple H, Kevin Nash and The Rock all made this war memorable.
Cena and Punk squared of at Money in the Bank (2011), SummerSlam (2011), Hell in a Cell (with Alberto Del Rio, 2011), RAW1000 (2012), SummerSlam (2012), Night of Champions (2012) and Survivor Series (2012) aswell as many other occasions.

3. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens (since 2015)

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have been wrestling with and against each other since they both broke into this business, some of you might heard of El Generico and Kevin Steen before, because that were the names of SZ and KO before they joined the big time. But only since they joined WWE their rivalry really kicked-off and it never truly ended. It is said Zayn and Owens are destined to fight forever. Formely best friends, Kevin Owens came to the WWE later than Zayn did. When Sami Zayn finally won the NXT Title it was KO who congratulated him first, only to attack him by the end of the celebration. Since then Zayn and KO have been tied together. Currenlty Zayn is out with an injury, but before that Owens and Zayn actually joined forces as a heel tag team. That unholy alliance might crumble once again result in another match between the two. It is one of the longest running storylines in WWE history and these two superstars are making every encounter even more special. So it is save to say: We haven't seen their best match yes, but we have seen some incredible moments already.
Matches/Moments to watch: NXT Takeover: Rival (2015), Payback (2016), Extreme Rules (2016, Fatal 4-Way which also involved Cesaro and The Miz), Battleground (2016), Hell in a Cell(2017, where Zayn helped Owens to win his match against Shane McMahon) and many many more.

2. Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz (2010-2011, since 2017)

Since the day Daniel Bryan signed with WWE he and The Miz are hating each other and it is understandable because they could not be any different. What makes this spicy: Both, on their own, at among the very best in this business, but yet have not many, if any, similarities. This feud basically is the embodiment of PURE WRESTLER vs. SUPERSTAR. While believes in the pure art performing, the other is in search of the bright lights and does whatever it needs to appeal to them. WWE fueled that animosity when they made The Miz the NXT-Pro of Daniel Bryan. While Bryan was an over 10-year-veteran at the time, the younger, more inexperienced Miz , was supposed to teach Bryan. Of course this did not end well. Later that year, when The Nexus formed, Bryan was fired from WWE, but returned to take on The Nexus at SummerSlam. Who did he replace? Of course, The Miz, who was furious because of this. It was Daniel Bryan who eventually took the United States Championship from The Miz. The two squared of numerous times, but never buried the hatchet. After their final encounter in 2011, the two went their own way even after Daniel Bryan was forced to retire in 2016. Bryan stayed with the WWE and became the General Manager of SmackDown Live, while The Miz was part of the SmackDown Roster. Miz begun the blame every short-coming on Bryan, but a real verbal happened at Talking Smack, where the pent-up rage boiled over. Bryan, who was not allowed to get physical, left the scene while Miz was spitting out everything he had to say. Since 2018 Daniel Bryan is able to wrestle again and everyone has been waiting for another match between Miz and Bryan and it looks SummerSlam 2018 might be the time and the place.
Other memorable Miz and Bryan matches: RAW 903 (2010), Night of Champions (2010), Hell in a Cell (2010, also involved John Morrison), RAW 925 (2011).

1. Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa (since 2017)

DIY has been one of the most beloved Tag Teams in WWE history. Two friends coming the indies, not supposed to make it and they made it. Incredible matches against multiple enemies, most notably The Revival, which always delivered. They became the NXT Tag Team Champions, but lost it rather quick. One faithful day Ciampa snapped and attacked Gargano after the match, out of nowhere. A brutal attack that not only made Ciampa snap his own leg, it broke Johnny's heart. On this day Tommaso Ciampa became the 'Blackheart' and therefore most evil entity in all of profesional wrestling. Out of action for the rest of 2017 Garrgano planned his vengance against Gargano, who was building himself up as a singles compeititor. Ciampa returned, still injured, to attack Gargano with his crutch at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia in 2018. A few months later on NXT Gargano agreed to put his career on the line against then NXT Champion Andrade Cien Almas, an opportunity for Ciampa, who re-appeared to ruin Gargano's NXT career as he took it from him by interfering in this match. The war continued as these two could not let each other go. Even Candice LeRae, Gargano's real-life wife, got involved. The more Ciampa challanges Gargano, the more the turns into what he despises, which Ciampa, but he cant let go. The amount of detail that is put into this feud is amazing and they are not finished yet. Will this war ever stop? We don't know. Everytime they meet, the add a more vicious layer to their fights. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and you are always wondring: What happens next? The perfect rivalry that just doesnt stop to be good.
The entire list: Cruiserweight Classic Tournament Round 1 (2016, the prequel to the war), NXT Takeover New Orleans (2018), NXT Takeover Chicago II (2018), NXT Takeover Brooklyn IV (2018, highly likely coming up)
