AMBOSS: A New Dawn In European Wrestling

With a strong statement, german promotion Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) is now the home of the called group "Amboss".

It is certain Amboss is not going to stay in Germany alone and the wrestling world should be put on notice when it comes to this group.

This feature is going to answer why Amboss means there is going to be a new dawn in wrestling Europe and why those four gentlemen have come together to change the industry.

Amboss is not going away. Amboss is going to stay. Amboss leads the way.

Purpose: Why did Amboss happen?

The story begins in early 2015. At the time European wrestling was booming like it hasn't done in many many decades.

Big companies like WWE were regular guests in Europe and promotions like PROGRESS, ICW, OTT, RevPro, wXw, GWF and later also WCPW (later Defiant Wrestling) were filling out venues left right and center.

It was a big-time and it did not take long Axel Tischer, later known as Alexander Wolfe, was signed by WWE as the first german-born WWE Superstar in over 20 years.

If not earlier, most german wrestling fans realized that the boom was not just exclusive to the British island and it was not very much possible that more german and European talent can follow him.

Tischer was part of a group called Ringkampf which also featured names like WALTER (Gunther), Axel Dieter Jr. (Marcel Barthel/Ludwig Kaiser), and Timothy Thatcher. All of them were signed by WWE eventually and WALTER is the current reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion.

This boom continued on and on. So much so that British tv channel ITV relaunched their wrestling program "World of Sports", which led to WWE establishing their own brand on the british island called NXT UK.

WWE's brands NXT and NXT UK ended up signing a large portion of talent in Europe.
By 2020 the global pandemic added to be especially troublesome for the industry.

In June 2020 a large wave of accusations against wrestlers and other people in and around wrestling happened. "Speaking Out" became to the wrestling business what "Me Too" was to the entertainment industry.

A final nail in the coffin for the wrestling boom in Europe, especially for British wrestling.

The end 2020 came and many promotions were unable to put on shows. A rare exclusion from that was wXw in Germany as they were able to tape shows without fans.

Robert Dreissker, who assumed the position of Head Coach in wXw's Wrestling Academy, after WALTER left for WWE in 2019, was one of those wrestlers present at those taped show.

During that time wXw was unable to book most of their international talent. It made sense to use new wrestlers from the Academy and other hopefuls from all across Germany and continental europe.

Robert Dreissker led a young hungry group of new talent and helped them to reach their full potential.
Dreissker himself has seen it all as a tenured veteran of the industry for over ten years. He himself saw the new environment as a great opportunity to leave his past as "The Avalanche" behind and begin a new story under his real name. From now he simply was their coach.

As the coach, he began mentioning what is going wrong in today's wrestling world. Since WWE began showing more interest in European wrestling talent began behaving differently, thinking they are stars before they even know the basics. He also said you invest so much time into a rookie and then they just stop appearing at the gym and never come back, because they realised wrestling just wasn't for them.
Lastly, the events during the pandemic had shown there is a lot of extreme unprofessionalism going on.

All that frustrated Dreissker, who was teaming with one of his rookies, Anil Mark, at the time. The duo won the wXw Tag Team Championships in 2021. Just 3 months later they lost the tag team titles to The Arrows of Hungary.

The Arrows of Hungary themselves have been regarded as one of the greatest unsigned tag teams in the entire world. But before and during the pandemic they weren't just perfecting their own skills, they were training a new generation in their home country of Hungary. Talent like Peter Tihanyi, Gulyas Junior, Iva Kolasky, and Orsi became frequently booked talent across Europe.

By wXw's 2022 version of their biggest event, 16 Carat Gold, the Arrows of Hungary were able to pack an entire plane with Hungarian in-ring and backstage talent. Fruits from their hard work.

It almost looked like their own trainees were overtaking them. Suddenly the Arrows, who lost their tag team championships during the very same 16 Carat Gold, were part of Warm-Up Matches. Frustration kicked in.

Frustration is no word for what Robert Dreissker was going through at the very same time. With Marik injured and his tag team title run gone, he saw himself faced with a lot of atversity. Until he snapped.
The former tag team partner of WALTER had enough.

After the finals of wXw 16 Carat 2022 he brutally and violently attacked the winner of the tournament: Ring of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham. Actions wXw suspended him for.

Following the lifting of his suspension Dreissker returned with an even angrier attitude. He told The Arrows of Hungary and young talent, Laurance Roman, in a backstage segment at wXw's True Colours event in May 2022, that they should be embarrassed for wrestling in the warm-up matches.

At wXw Broken Rules XX all four of them formed the group we now know as "Amboss".

The Future: Why is Amboss going to make a huge impact in all of wrestling?

Robert Dreissker.
The sinister leader of Amboss. Head Coach of wXw. 10+ year veteran in euro wrestling. Powerhouse.
Dreissker is a former wXw Shotgun and wXw Tag Team Champion. There are not many that would dare to stop a raging machine like him.
His experience and determination are tough to match. This man is going to take over euro wrestling. Whether we like it or not.

The Arrows Of Hungary (Icarus & Dover).
Coachers of both Passion Pro Wrestling and Hungarian Championship Wrestling.
Masterminds behind many rising stars of Hungary and revolutionists of the Hungarian pro wrestling industry. Regarded as one of the greatest active tag teams in the entire world.
Former wXw Tag Team Champions.
Fear the Crossfire, because these two are not taking prisoners.

Laurance Roman.
Laurance Roman started his career in 2013 but has yet to win a big championship in Europe.
Calling him the protegee of the group would most likely put you on their bad side, he probably is far from that. Roman simply is extremely frustrated with his position in euro wrestling despite his awe-inspiring skill between the ropes.

Together these four gentlemen are on a mission. Restore order.
Reclaim. Reshape. Rebuild the industry in their image. And they won't stop in Germany, Austria, France, Hungary and every single other country that dares to invite them will receive a clear message.

Europe is ready for a change and Amboss is bringing it.
