Who Is The Sigma Levaniel?

It was Friday the 23rd of February 2024 when a live stream preview to 16 Carat on the YouTube channel of Westside X-Treme Wrestling was interrupted by a familiar face. It was the face of Levaniel. With a new attitude, he had choice words for his opponents but especially the fans. Those fans looked into the eyes of a man that had changed. Gone were the days of the Prince of The Stars. He was now calling himself "The Sigma". But how did we get here? What preceded those events?

For that, we have to turn back the wrestling clock by one year...

On Top Of The World: Love Is In The Air


Still very fresh into his career Levaniel got consistent strong crowd reactions and proved to be a force on the microphone and in the ring. This resulted in a monster push for the young performer and the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship victory at the 22nd Anniversary Marquee Event in December 2022.

However, his reign did not last for too long, as a feud with the then wXw Director of Sports, Norman Harras, resulted in him being stripped of the Championship just before wXw 16 Carat Gold 2023. 

Aside from playing a key role during the Day 2 Main Event of the festival, the remainder of his wrestling year was nowhere near the strong 2021 and 2022 that Levaniel can look back on.

Fan support plummeted and it got harder and harder for fans to feel the "Love". 

During wXw World Tag Team Festival 2023, Levaniel began teaming with long-time friend Jurn Simmons to form "Massive Love". Although the combination seemed promising, for most fans the act did not click. Just a couple of months later, Levaniel turned heel on Simmons, ending the team before it got off the ground.

Shotgun: Levaniel Is Back

 


When it comes to creativity Levaniel is one of the very best. This man excelled at being a top babyface, a comedy character and a storyteller in the ring. But there was one thing he never did: A serious heel run.

Enough is enough and it was time for a change. And yes, he did change.

After his mission statement during the live preview for 16 Carat, it was clear that Levaniel would not enter his Shotgun Championship match against The Rotation and Maggot as "The Prince Of The Stars". He is going to be very different now. He is going to be "The Sigma."

What is a sigma male?

Sigma male is a slang term used in masculinist subcultures for a popular, successful, but highly independent and self-reliant man. Another term for a sigma male is a lone wolf.

Sigma male has seen most of its usage by the same members of what is known as the manosphere and who use other Greek letters to form a social hierarchy, such as alpha male, beta male, and omega male. The term has also been used to mock all of these labels used to categorize men.

His eyes are not on the fans anymore. There is no love. There is loud energetic promos. There is only focus—all in all with a new entrance, theme song and a new haircut.

The new presentation prompted fans to chant for Draco Malfoy, among others. Draco Malfoy, portrayed by Tom Felton in the Harry Potter movies, was positioned as the first antagonist for the main character to encounter during the first movie. Cold, calculated and arrogant. Attributes that can certainly be found in the new incarnation of Levaniel.

Levnial is now highly independent and certainly successful as he was rewarded by winning the wXw Shotgun Championship at Night 1 of wXw 16 Carat Gold 2024.

As fans are still trying to understand "The Sigma" Levaniel, he seems confindent and locked into his new role.

Later during the same weekend, Levaniel dispatched new fan favourite Jacob Crane to defend his newly won Shotgun Title. There is no stopping this new version of Levaniel. Where do you think is he going next?
