El Idolo! Can Andrade 'Cien' Almas be Mexico's TRUE greatest export?

Since Rey Mysterio has been gone from the WWE, the company has scanned the globe for a new mexican sensation that will draw mexican fans in by storm. Alberto Del Rio, Kalisto, Sin Cara..... Many names came, but where not able the connect with the fans as the Master of the 619 did. With Andrade 'Cien' Almas WWE might have found the solution to their problem.

The former 'La Sombra' was signed by WWE to a developmental deal in late 2015. WWE took his mask and his name and turned him into a greasy babyface. After weeks of vignettes, hyping his unmasked debut, Almas did debut at the NXT's Takeover: The End event by defeating Tye Dillinger.
While getting a good reaction, Triple H later said on a Facebook Interview he was impressed by him, but did not like the gear Almas wore to the ring, especially his feather. The feather was gone a few weeks later. Almas began gaining momentum on NXT but never came close to the NXT Title. After fans began losing interest in the Mexican Sensation Almas turned heel against Cedric Alexander during the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in 2016. He once again was given NXT Takeover matches but the same way his babyface push died down, his heel push did, too. Alberto Del Rio said in an interview Almas asked him if 'it' would get better once he made into the main roster, mirroring his frustration.
But WWE had one more trick up their sleeves: Zelina Vega.
In the months and weeks before her arrival to NXT, Almas was portrayed as a party-manniac who was more show than action. But with Vega appearing on his side, Cien turned made a huge jump. A jump that draw huge attention by NXT's officials.
After pinning Drew McIntyre to everyone's shock, becoming NXT Champion, Almas began a program with Johnny Gargano which featured incredible matches, their NXT Philadelphia encounter even got 5 stars by Dave Meltzer.

Zelina Vega certainly made Andrade Cien Almas a star. A star many now believe got very well become Mexico's Greatest Export. He now has an excellent mouthpiece in Vega and is able to showcase is jaw-dropping wrestling skills. But we can only hope that Vince McMahon sees the potential in him once Almas arrives on the main roster.
