Who is Dexter Lumis?

On this week's NXT episode the General Manager William Regal announced the Breakout Tournament. WWE's newest signees compete in a huge 8-Men Tournament to get a championship chance of their choosing. Among them are the likes of Bronson Reed (fka Jonah Rock), Cameron Grimes (fka Trevor Lee), Joaquin Wilde (fka DJZ or Zema Ion) and Jordan Miles (fka ACH).
All of them are insanely talented talented wrestlers and the only reason why they are not already making up the entire talent pool on NXT TV is, that the show can only cover so much people and there is currently no way the current stars of NXT are going anywhere.

Therefore WWE created a tournement to allow all of them to showcase their talent and give atleast one of them a door to enter the TV curcuit - for now.
One of these talents in Dexter Lumis. For me the most special guy that has not been on TV yet. This guy is absolutley amazing. He might not fly as high as a Jordan Miles or be as explosive as a Bronson Reed, but if you do love acting and character work in wrestling, Dexter Lumis is your man. He combines this with a awesome power-moves and also technical skills, that draw the audience's attention. Right now I want to show you why Dexter Lumis is the wildcard of the tournament and sticks out of the rest.

Dexter Lumis has competed under the names of Sam Shaw and Samuel Shaw in his time before WWE NXT. He has perfected to be different and be amazing at the same time. In 2013 Shaw got his time to shine in TNA, now known as Impact Wrestling:

Introduced as the next break-out star, then ring-announcer Christy Hemme interviewed him and visited Shaw at his home. Shaw later turned out to be a psychopath, obsessed on having Christy Hemme for himself. A role he played to perfection. His feud with Mr. Anderson raised eyebrows across the wrestling world and brought me back to watching Impact. Shaw, who finished his opponents off with a devastating choke-hold, quickly became the most talked about segment on Impact for a while. Until Anderson finally beat him and forced him into an Asylum.

After a break, the storyline was picked up again and it was Gunner, who we now know as Jaxson Ryker on NXT, you was able to  break through show and bring him back to the Impact Zone. Shaw later turned on Gunner and the circle began again. The relationship between Shaw and Impact ended in 2015.

Shaw, who is also a talented drawer, did not spend the time away from Impact on the couch. He perfected his physique and in-ring skills. His time as the TNT Champion and part of the NWA relaunch also gave him the opportunity to reinvent himself and also perfect his work on the microphone. That complete package was then finally signed by the WWE in Feburary of 2019.

I can not wait to see Dexter Lumis in a WWE ring and even if he might not win the tournament, i am very confident he will impress enough and have great future in WWE. In my personal opinion Lumis is the next big thing in NXT. The one only a few people have on the plan, but who is going to draw all attention towards him, kinda like Velveteen Dream did.

I am looking forward to your ideas who might win the Breakout-Tournament, tweet me @Walu2go.
The tournament starts next week on WWE NXT - only on the WWE Network.
